ENERGETIC RHYTHMS
Punjabi Dhol Players for Weddings & Events
Live dhol for Sangeet and Jago nights, baraat entries, wedding receptions and cultural events — across the UK and internationally.
We supply professional dhol players for Sangeet and Jago nights, baraat entries, wedding receptions, melas and corporate events across the UK and internationally.
Where the dhol earns its place
Most of our dhol bookings are for our Sangeet performances and Jago evenings. A dhol player elevates the whole vibe of the night, bringing an energy and excitement to the celebration that gets people on their feet and keeps them there.
We always recommend a dhol player for a larger crowd, where a dholki alone can be lost in the room, and a dhol player is included in our Silver package. The dhol is also a genuinely portable instrument, so it can lead the Jago procession through the night rather than staying tied to a stage.
Dhol players can also be booked separately for the wedding day itself: the baraat, the couple’s entrance into the reception, and driving a dance set in a way that recorded music does not.
Our guide: What a Dhol Player Does at a Wedding →
What a dhol booking includes
- Professional dhol players, in coordinated performance dress.
- Performance for the segments you need — Sangeet and Jago sets, entrances, the baraat, dance sets — rather than a fixed block dropped into the day.
- Coordination with your venue, planner and anyone else performing, so entries happen on cue.
- The option to combine dhol with live singers or a DJ set, booked together.
Where dhol players are booked
- Sangeet and dholki nights — dhol alongside our singers, and the one we recommend most. It lifts the energy of the evening, especially with a larger crowd.
- Mehndi and Jago — the Jago in particular is a moving, night-time procession, and dhol is what leads it.
- Baraat — the groom’s procession on the wedding day, booked separately or alongside the rest of the week.
- Wedding receptions — the couple’s entrance, cutting through the lull after a seated meal, and driving the dance set before or alongside a DJ.
- Cultural events — melas, South Asian festivals, community and civic programmes, Vaisakhi celebrations and corporate functions.
If your booking is a wedding, it is usually worth looking at the week as a whole rather than the baraat alone — see Punjabi wedding entertainment.
How many dhol players?
It depends on the space and the effect you want. A single player carries an intimate indoor entrance. A larger group gives a baraat real weight and works better outdoors, where sound disperses.
We bring as many players as the event calls for and the team is chosen for the booking, so this is something we settle when we talk through your day rather than something you have to specify up front.
Combining dhol with the rest of the entertainment
Dhol is frequently booked alongside our folk singers or DJ, and there is a practical reason to book them together: the handovers get planned. A dhol entry that runs straight into a DJ set, or a live singer accompanied by dhol, needs the performers to have agreed the cues in advance. Booking separately tends to mean nobody owns that.
Pricing and booking
Every booking is quoted individually, with travel included, so there is no fixed price list. Dhol is also one of the easiest bookings to travel with: the instrument is portable and the set-up is minimal, so a dhol player can reach a venue that a full band and PA could not. Lead times, travel and what we need for a quote are covered in the FAQs.
Enquire about DholFrequently asked questions
What is a dhol?
The dhol is a double-headed drum from Punjab, played with two sticks and worn on a strap so the player can move. It produces the loud, driving rhythm associated with bhangra and Punjabi celebration, and because it is portable it can lead a procession.
How many dhol players do we need?
It is bespoke to your event and depends on the space and the moment. A single player suits an intimate indoor entrance; a larger group gives an outdoor celebration much more impact. We agree the number with you when we discuss the day.
Do you play for baraat processions?
Not directly, but we can organise dhol players for your baraat through a third party. Mention it when you enquire and we will arrange it alongside the rest of your booking.
Can we book dhol players alongside singers or a DJ?
Yes, through our packages. Our Silver package includes a dhol player and our Gold package includes a DJ, so the handovers between a dhol entry, a live set and a DJ are planned in advance rather than improvised on the day.
How much does it cost to hire a dhol player?
The quote depends on the number of dhol players, the event type, how many segments they are playing for, the date, the venue and the travel involved. Send us your details and we will quote against what the day actually needs.
