CULTURAL EVENTS & FESTIVALS
Punjabi Entertainment for Concerts, Melas & Cultural Events
Live Punjabi entertainment for melas, South Asian festivals, community events and concerts — scaled to the stage you have.
We provide live Punjabi entertainment for concerts, melas and cultural events — festival singers, dhol players and musicians in a full line-up. Bookings range from Punjabi cultural events and South Asian festivals to community events and private concerts, and the line-up scales from a community hall to a festival main stage, assembled for the booking.
Built for the stage you actually have
A concert booking is a different problem from a wedding booking. The organiser usually has a stage, a slot length, a sound provider and a bill of other acts to work around, and the performance has to fit all four.
That is why the line-up is assembled per event rather than offered as a fixed package. A community hall and a festival main stage need different things, and we scale to what is in front of us.
What a concert line-up can include
- Lead vocals from Reena Kaur, with over twenty-five years of live performance.
- Supporting singers and performers, drawn from our team.
- Live dhol players.
- Musicians, as the set requires.
- Coordination with your production and sound team on stage requirements and running order.
Events we perform at
Melas and South Asian festivals, Punjabi cultural events, Vaisakhi and heritage celebrations, community and charity events, civic and council-run programmes, corporate functions, and private concerts. Reena Kaur has performed at events including Wolverhampton’s Summer Mela, where the line-up plays as festival singers on a shared bill.
Punjabi melas and South Asian festivals
A mela is a different animal from a ticketed concert. The audience is arriving and leaving all day, a good part of it is families with young children, and the crowd in front of the stage at 2pm is not the crowd there at 7pm. A set that works at a mela has to win an audience that did not come specifically to see you, which is a different skill from playing to people who bought tickets.
That is the work we have been doing longest. Reena Kaur has performed at events including Wolverhampton’s Summer Mela, and the line-up plays as festival singers on a shared bill — your stage, your sound provider, your slot length, your running order.
The same applies across South Asian festivals generally, whether the programme is exclusively Punjabi or spans several communities. Where a bill is mixed, tell us what sits either side of our slot and the set is built to complement it rather than repeat it.
Punjabi cultural events and community events
A large part of our calendar is not festivals at all. It is Punjabi cultural events and community events run by councils, charities, gurdwaras, community associations and civic programmes — Vaisakhi celebrations, heritage and history programmes, Black and South Asian history events, fundraisers, open days and civic commemorations.
These bookings usually come with a fixed budget, a committee, and a venue that is a hall rather than a stage. All three are normal for us. The line-up scales down as readily as it scales up, and we would rather tell you what fits your budget than quote for something you cannot run.
- Melas and South Asian festivals — outdoor and indoor, single-stage or multi-stage.
- Punjabi cultural events — Vaisakhi, heritage programmes and cultural celebration evenings.
- Community events — association and gurdwara events, fundraisers, open days and charity evenings.
- Civic and council programmes — town and city cultural calendars, commemorations and public celebrations.
- Concerts — ticketed shows and shared concert bills, including multi-date bookings.
- Corporate and private concerts — where a full live line-up is wanted rather than a DJ.
Cultural entertainment across the UK
We provide live Punjabi entertainment throughout the UK, and a great deal of this work is regional — the mela and community-event calendar is strongest across the Midlands, London and the North, but we travel nationwide and internationally for it. Travel is built into the quote up front rather than added later, which matters more for a committee working to a fixed budget than it does for a private booking. See the areas we cover →
Why a live line-up rather than a single act
A solo vocalist with backing tracks is a cheaper booking, and for some slots it is the right one. But a festival crowd standing in a field responds to a band in a way it does not respond to a backing track, and the difference is most obvious in the moments between songs — when a live dhol can hold a crowd that a silent gap would lose.
A full line-up also gives you flexibility on the day. If your schedule moves, a live band can extend or compress. A fixed backing track cannot.
For event organisers
If you are programming a bill, the practical questions — slot length, stage plot, sound requirements, arrival times — are best handled directly. Send the details of the event and we will come back with what the line-up needs.
We are used to working to someone else’s production schedule and to sharing a stage and a sound provider with other acts, which is the normal situation at a mela. Tell us who your sound provider is and we will deal with them directly on the technical side.
Multi-date and touring bookings can be discussed the same way.
Pricing and booking
Every booking is quoted individually, with travel included, so there is no fixed price list. Festival and mela programmes are usually set months in advance, so the earlier you approach us the more of your running order is still open. Lead times, travel and what we need for a quote are covered in the FAQs.
